I have discovered that the garden diet is very good for me, I have also discovered that I need more time to get on raw fully. I have been learning to eat raw for over 10 years and have learned a lot from Jinjee and Storms emails. I started on their programs to learn to add more raw dishes so I would enjoy eating raw all the time instead of getting tired of salad. I have learned a lot over the past 7 weeks. I haven’t followed the eating plan since my first two weeks, but have used the menu ideas to find something I could eat each day/week. my detox symptoms are scary since the toxins my body has been holding on to are quite poisonous. eating fully raw starts me detoxing. I am eating more raw foods, have learned some recipes I really enjoy. I have set myself up an eating plan I can work with. My plan to transition to raw is to have raw breakfast and lunch (or dinner) and the other meal may be cooked or have some cooked foods. Once a week or more I will have an all raw day, adding days as I can handle it without such detox symptoms. I have cleaned up my diet, educated my daughters on cleaning up their diets and have lost some weight. I have had the energy to do what I need to do for my family. - GN
She has been doing The Garden Diet since December 10th, in New York City no less, and claims she does not miss cooked food! Her Doctor is astounded by her health; saying I don’t want to know what you are doing, just keep doing it. She is down from 205 to 155 lbs. (I love that doctor!)
What still always seems remarkable to me is how fast weight comes off when you simply switch to 100% raw. What I love about my part in this work is how our recipes and menu plans with shopping lists make that actually doable for people!
"OMYGOD! I just ate the raw eggplant parmesan. OMYGOD! DElicious! That was so good. Especially the cheese. I never found raw cheese that managed to have the melty quality of real cheese. And I never appreciated leeks and portobello mushrooms like that before. The mushrooms melted in my mouth. I liked it better than the eggplant, to be honest. I’m gonna put this recipe on Facebook. The Balanced Raw Diet is all about getting all the nutrients you need to thrive on a raw vegan diet.
Although our menu plans provide this balance over the course of the day and the week, some of our recipes are balanced within themselves.
For instance, Storm’s Raw Tabouli contains a high level of iron in the main ingredient, parsley. Vitamin C and fat both help the body to absorb iron, and both are present in this recipe in abundance; the Vitamin C in the tomato and lemon and the healthy fats in the avocado and hemp seeds.
It also happens to be delicious and incredibly satisfying!
